1. Primary Coarse Grinding:

A pre-breaker / coarse crusher reduces whole spices to a coarse mix (e.g., 2-4 mm). This increases throughput for the fine mill.

2. Fine Grinding / Milling:

Choice depends on fineness required (typically 80-120 mesh for curry powder).

Pin Mill: Most common. Uses impacting pins for fine grinding. Good for moderate-oil-content spices. Can be air-cooled to manage heat.

Oversized particles are returned for re-grinding.

Ensures uniform particle size (e.g., all powder passes 100 mesh).

4. Blending (If post-grind)

Industrial ribbon blenders or paddle mixers are used.
